Mr Quek Gim Pew

Biography

Mr Quek Gim Pew was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of DSO National Laboratories in Feb 2004.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons 1st Class) in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science (Distinction) in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, USA in 1986.

Mr Quek spends his entire career in defence science and technology. He has worked in Special Project Office (MINDEF), DSO and Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA). In his early years, he managed defence acquisition before becoming an R&D engineer in sensor & signal processing. He moved on to manage defence R&D in DSO before becoming Directorate of R&D, DSTA in 1997. In this capacity, he managed the Ministry R&D budget and was responsible for the master-planning and build-up of defence R&D capabilities for MINDEF/SAF. In 2002 he was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive(Technology) DSTA, a position he held until he returned to DSO as CEO in 2004.

In his career, Mr Quek was presented with numerous awards, including the Defence Technology Prize (Individual), and the Public Administration Medals (Silver & Bronze).
