TDSI aims to contribute to Singapore's enhanced defence capability through research in defence systems. Its activities draw the necessary academia into this new discipline and in the process grow this capability at NUS. Research also forms an important component in TDSI's education programmes, particularly the MDTS programme in which students learn through experimenting. NUS' collaboration with NPS and cooperation with the Singapore defence community facilitates this process.
